A Poem by Olivia Nolte

Tattoos and smoke drenched skin

You tasted like liquor, your body doused in sin

A coy smile, inviting blue eyes

The words “you’re beautiful” escaped your lips

And that’s when I knew it was it

Your hands found my hips just as my mouth met your lips

I gave you my mouth, my tongue, my chest, my lungs

Hands and feet, elbows and knees

And everything else that fell in between

For a fleeting moment I could’ve sworn you were mine

But just like everything else, that proved to be nothing more than a dream

You handed me hope then stole it back and ran away

Told me I was too intense, left things astray

I didn’t love you-this I know for sure

But boy did I want you, kind of like the way the waves just can’t seem to get enough of the shore

It’s been over a week now and I’ve been ok

But Lord knows my heart still aches

And maybe, just maybe, one day in another time and place

I’ll receive an incoming text

Nothing more than a simple “hey”

And maybe, just maybe, things will be ok

But maybe, just maybe, that one day it’ll be far too late

Nice piece. My feeling is the blue eyed' boy in this piece, is just that. And the speaker in this poem is vivacious, and passionate. Anyone in true love would embrace the kind of intensity that is displayed in this fine poem. Not, run away from it.
