Chapter 3- RedA Chapter by The Fallen~Red~
The wind flowed through my red hair as I ran around the track, ignoring the first period bell. I felt at ease, I had a lot of time to think. The track was like a second home to me, I was always in training for the next track meet. “How long have you been out here?” The voice of Coach Pearson reached my ears from the other side of the track. I laughed softly and picked up the pace, running over to him. “Since six, Coach.” I called back to him. He shook his head and pointed to the watch on his wrist. “The bell rang.” He said as I got closer. I rolled my eyes, I was always late. I would prefer to stay on the track all my life. I never got tired of running, and always won any competition I ever participated in. I looked down at my good luck charm, a silver chain on my ankle that had a red and black butterfly on it to match my black butterfly tattoo that was on the inner side of my wrist, which I kept well hidden with a red wrist band. My mother told me how the butterfly represented peace, tranquillity, and speed. Ever since then I had been obsessed with butterflies, and had kept the chain on my ankle. I came to a stop in front of my coach, his brown eyes full of entertainment, but his face was streaked with disappointment. “I told your teachers that we would have no problem getting you to class on time. If you continue to be late, I am going to have to kick you off the team.” He warned. My dark purple eyes widened, he had to be kidding. “Without me you would lose!”I stomped my foot down on the pavement, my fist clenched. “It's something I will have to do. Please just be on time for class. It is not a lot to ask.”He sighed and turned around and began to walk back to the school. I scowled at him, following closely behind. I pulled the hair tie out of my hair, allowing my fire-like hair fall over my shoulders. “Do we have a practice after school?” I asked the coach. “Even if we didn't you would still be here.” He chuckled softly. He was right, I was always at the track or running laps around my house. I never stopped running, it was my life. “I better go change.” I muttered and ran past my coach, towards the change room doors that were placed outside of the gym. I had no clue why the doors were located outside, but this school was always a little different. I swung open the doors and trudged inside, pulling my white track shirt over my head. I slipped off my black shorts and replaced them with a pair of white skinny jeans, and a purple tank top. I untied my running shoes and took them off as well, and grabbed my black scrappy heels. I shoved my clothes inside of my gym bag and walked out of the change room, brushing my brush through my hair. I slowly made my way to my first period class, history, knowing that I would be in a heap of trouble. Like always. I shoved my purple ear buds in my ear, and turned on my music, as I pushed open the classroom door my eyes darted over to a boy with sandy blonde hair. I had no clue who he was, new guy obviously, but he was in my seat. I sighed and looked over at the teacher. I could tell almost immediately that he was furious with me, but then again when isn't he? I calmly walked into the classroom and took the seat next to the new guy, he was already on my bad side. “Rosa Santos. Why are you late again?” The teachers voice broke through my thoughts. I looked up at him and raised a brow. “You know the answer, and my name is Red for the last time!” I hadn't legally changed my named but I was never fond of the name Rosa, so I changed it to Red. If anyone ever asked for my name the answer was Red. “And you also know the consequence of being late.” He replied, setting a pink detention slip on my desk. I looked at him, my hands and teeth clenched. Peace?I chuckled. I will not make peace with him. This is my tenth detention this month! In my mind, I wanted to harm my teacher for giving me detentions. I was a straight A student, yet I will never make it anywhere in life with multiple detentions! When the caterpillar thought the world was over.... It turned into a beautiful butterfly... © 2013 The FallenAuthor's Note
