stolenA Poem by oli the outcastbeen feelin down lately I dunno I feel like everything is taken
many things have been stolen from me.
my whole life, things were taken. my mothers screaming stole my smile, my fathers pressure crushed my heart. in grade 1, the kids stole my laugh and replaced it with words like "freak", in grade 2, grade 3, they stole my things. my pencil cases gone, homework shredded. in grade 4 they stole punches, and in grade 5 I stole them back. in grades 6-8 they tried to steal my thoughts. my whole life they've tried to steal my words teachers shoving their filthy fingers in my brain trying to scoop them out as if my originality was ripe for the picking. older people being told that my dictionary is for them to edit but I will not let them take anything else! my words are mine, and mine alone! if you want my creativity, my true passion you must wait until I decide to pry open my chest and let my paper butterflies speak to you I will not let you pull words from my mouth like a fish from a river, you will not dry my thirst for knowledge with your lies and ignorance. you might think you can take my words and you might be able to silence my mouth, but you cannot stop my thoughts. you cannot kill ideas, MY ideas. you can cut out my tongue, but you cannot carve my thoughts to match your own. I live for the real truth, not your truth. I want to learn everything, not what you want me to learn. and as long as you try and take my words, I will paint my thoughts into the clouds, I will etch them into the sky with my bare hands, the sun will burn with my beliefs-with my truth, I will make poems with the stars, and I will carve novels into the moon. © 2014 oli the outcast |
