Far From Home

A Poem by oldwarrior

Lonely Native American

"

As I venture far from home, these thoughts I hold so dear,
I fondly think of Dancing Doe, wishing she were near.

I know that she will wait for me, near the brook with the broken tree,
With her slender arms and raven hair, as her wistful thoughts run free.

Her crooked smile and slender hands, her feet and tiny toes,
Her happy laugh and tender touch, as the wind behind her blows.

Fox has come to give her stealth, to teach the ways of guile,
And Turtle sees with awe and love, her gracious lovely smile.

Eagle sees her from above, as he sails the deep blue sky,
He puffs his chest with pride and joy, at the sparkle in her eye.

Mother Bear and Baby Bear are smiling from the brook,
Hoping soon that Dancing Doe, will bless them with a look.

Gliding Swans sail near her feet, to peek into her eyes,
Their baby chicks behind them, chasing after flies.

Her slender arms and graceful legs, bring thoughts of purest joy,
The dimples in her lovely knees, my favorite little toy.

Raccoon is dancing at her side, and talks incessantly,
He seeks her favor, he wants to play, he will never leave her be.

In the water Brother Trout, nibbles at her toes,
Stealing a kiss while all the time, her laughter grows and grows.

Bluebirds sing a song of praise, to brighten up her day,
Flowers dance and lean to her, as they gently sway.

Brother Squirrel up in the tree, is beating on his chest,
He preens and chatters and throws a fit, to show that he’s the best.

It matters not how far I roam, nor the days I may abide,
You my dear, my one true love, are always at my side.

Gentle wind and whispering trees, send my thoughts to all to see,
Dancing Doe, the one I love, we are one eternally.

My dearest love, my dream come true, the one that I adore,
My heart to you, my love I give, for now and evermore.

Your Native American blood runs through this charming piece.
The imagery was crystal clear, just beautiful.

Oh, and thank you so much for your service to our country.

Reminds me of a Druid who was going to teach me to vision quest, I still have not mustered the courage to enter that realm. Have you experienced a vision quest as a rite of passage? If this is non of my business to ask, then I apologise, it's just something I feel would complete my martial arts training.
This poem was very relaxing to read, it built up a wonderful Image in my head. Thank you
