Where Have All The Angels Gone

Where Have All The Angels Gone

A Poem by Micheal Teal

Where have all the angels gone? I have grown weary of the battle. As i get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to understand or accept mans inhumanity. Mine is a journey to the divine but my path is blocked by those who wallow in an ocean of negativity. I seek to breathe in inspiration as i send out blessings of peace and love. Yet the weight of hatred , racism , homophobia , sexism ... have taken their toll. There are too many selfish and not enough selfless. We have an inherent earth connection that we ignore for we continually rape the land , taint the water and pollute the air. Where have all the angels gone?

Where have all the angels gone? Where are those who celebrate life and spirit while fostering greater harmony? The heart of the world is broken and we are the abusers. We must create purpose in our lives and seek to enrich , enlighten and educate. We must live in a more conscious way and let our souls speak. Where have all the angels gone?

Can anybody hear me!

I like it. It's like a cry for change- a call to action.
The title is definitly what drew me in, and I like how you repeated it throughout the poem. However, it threw me off when you repeated it at the end of the first stanza and at the beginning of the second. It made me take a really big breath before I read it. XD

You have a very powerful way of reaching out to people through words. It makes me want to get up and do something now... I might just do that.
I hope someday the world can hear these same words.

Bravo!
I too have wondered the same for quite some time. At what point did we become a society who desrately 'needs' material things? Became so wasteful of everyone and everything around them?

Sorry I'm starting to rant :) I'm just happy to see you've portrayed your question along with your view in an un-angered way. Beautifuly written.
Thank you for sharing :)

I hear you. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer because I ask the same question all the time. It is as if you crawled inside my head and read my thoughts. I feel your frustration, it jumps off the page. I too have have felt frustration and that "the weight of hatred , racism , homophobia , sexism ... have taken their toll". A partner of my daughter's friend was murdered because he was homosexual. Why can't people understand that it does matter who you love just that you love.

Albert Einstein said:

"The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil,
but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

Don't be discouraged, we have to hang in there and just continue to ...shine on. The alternative is not an option.

Namaste

I so appreciate your honesty and the awareness this presents... We abuse many gifts God has so richly blessed us with.

I hear you! So true. Our world is full of so much sorrow and pain. Too many hypocrites and injustice. Too many wrongs to make right.

It is sad and true our spiritual situation is desperate yet we think we are strong. We are bruised beaten and are skin is falling off the bone. The angels did not leave us we left them. God did not turn His back we became to big for Him. We are in a desperate situation. May we all fall on our knees beg for mercy through away our own thoughts and listen to the imputable one. Thanks

Angels are all around you and the best way to find them is to be one yourself, right? Find the joy in the everyday. The sanctity of the good things in life, the simple pleasures. The things you take for granted.

Also, the poem was nice. It's sort of sad but I liked it.

Nicely written

The angels are all here among us. It takes some searching, but we can find them. I enjoyed what you had to say. This one would be more effective in a more traditional free verse form than the paragraph stanzas, I think.
