Where Have All The Angels Gone

Where Have All The Angels Gone

A Poem by Micheal Teal

Where have all the angels gone? I have grown weary of the battle. As i get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to understand or accept mans inhumanity. Mine is a journey to the divine but my path is blocked by those who wallow in an ocean of negativity. I seek to breathe in inspiration as i send out blessings of peace and love. Yet the weight of hatred , racism , homophobia , sexism ... have taken their toll. There are too many selfish and not enough selfless. We have an inherent earth connection that we ignore for we continually rape the land , taint the water and pollute the air. Where have all the angels gone?

Where have all the angels gone? Where are those who celebrate life and spirit while fostering greater harmony? The heart of the world is broken and we are the abusers. We must create purpose in our lives and seek to enrich , enlighten and educate. We must live in a more conscious way and let our souls speak. Where have all the angels gone?

Can anybody hear me!

I like it. It's like a cry for change- a call to action.
The title is definitly what drew me in, and I like how you repeated it throughout the poem. However, it threw me off when you repeated it at the end of the first stanza and at the beginning of the second. It made me take a really big breath before I read it. XD

You have a very powerful way of reaching out to people through words. It makes me want to get up and do something now... I might just do that.
I hope someday the world can hear these same words.

I hear you!!! && im so very glad that all those people under me did to. Your title is an immediate attention grabber . I love it because it is so very deep, as if you reached deep into yourself to pull out the inermost desires of the heart. I agree with every line in this poem as i sympathize with it, because i know it hurts.
awesome read ***** 5stars for an earth changer!

I hear you Michael, this is a sadness, our world is so dark that the angels only bless those who appriciate them. Who seek them and embrace them. Sadly there only the few of us who sincerely want the world to be a better place.

Beatiful write.

beautiful poem. it does seem like the angels have gone and the world always seems to get "worse". but i'm sure they're still there, and there always will be, as long as there's still people like us to spread a little joy in the world :)

This is a superb show of emotions... (I cried) I feel the same way most of the time. I love the question "Where have all the angels gone?"
However, I think it's important to remember not to become negative yourself... because if those who want change lose hope, then how will the angels be seen? Smiles and generosity are almost as contagious as sadness and despair. It is important for those who value life and spirituality to spread charity from one person to another. Instead of simply wondering where the angels are, WE must become the angels, the guides, the teachers. Don't lose hope. If you look closely, you'll see that the angels aren't missing at all. You just aren't looking for them in the right places. Look at how many lives have been saved by organizations like Feed The Children. Walk into a forest that has been rescued and smell the fresh air. Peer into the window of an animal shelter. Count the people who smile at you :) (there's one).
Very well written. I liked the way you worded the part "Where are those who celebrate life and spirit while fostering greater harmony." Although you're missing a question mark
So teach, love, and most importantly, smile :D

We are here,,,carrying food to the sick, visiting the lonely at nursing homes, giving clothes and food to the needy and hungry..You may not see us but believe me we are here and alive and well..Otherangels I have felt their wings ..in my fathers room in the hospital when he died..All present felt the wings move across their skin..Never lose hope..God bless..Valentine

A job well done, Michael. Your title grabbed me right away...

Where Have All The Angels Gone?

I think they are out there in various places and in some places more than others. There are many positive souls that seek to inspire, to spread positive thought, that are selfless, that celebrate life and spirit, and many that are willing to enrich, enlighten, and educate. You just have to look for them and go where they are.

I think of the old saying, "If you want friends, you have to be one" and some how I think that applies. As we do our best to inspire, spread positive thought, and educate selflessly, even in the face of darkness, the angels will come one by one. They will be drawn in and they too will become angels. The darkest places are the places that need it the most. Even when we think we are not making a difference, we need to continue being a light.

By nature, I use to be very negative. How could I inspire a single being negative? I couldn't. But...it was those "Angels" you speak of that encouraged me, inspired me, and educated me that caused my thinking to be changed one rung at a time. They came in the form of a magazine, a book, a television special, a special poem on the cafe, a person whose path I crossed, and so on...

So keep on keepin' on Michael. Keep lookin'...and above all keep doing what you do best to inspire, to encourage and to educate and don't stop. You obviously have a gift, and our world desperately needs it right now. (I think sometimes we underestimate the power of ONE to make a difference and leave our mark on the world.)

The angels WILL come. (I was miserable when I was selfish and they are too.) Once you start inspiring others, it is contagious and will have a domino effect. You'll see.

Blessings my friend, Carole

I don't think that the angels are gone, Michael. They're still right here with us. But because we are primates striving for "the angelic orders" we are subject to all the hard wired territorial, tribal and dominance urges of our cousins, the great apes. That individuals among us have transcended and continue to transcend those behaviors, that we can produce miraculous statements of universal transcendence like the Declaration of Independence or almost any of Walt Whitman's poetry, is the surest indicator I can think of that we are moving toward the goal. Nice work.

Michael ... many hear you. You must not let this earth and those who inhabit it get you down. One must simply tend to their own garden ... nurturing, loving and healing all within it ... eventually bring to that garden others who need love and sustenance.
