Where have all the angels gone? I have grown weary of the battle. As i get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to understand or accept mans inhumanity. Mine is a journey to the divine but my path is blocked by those who wallow in an ocean of negativity. I seek to breathe in inspiration as i send out blessings of peace and love. Yet the weight of hatred , racism , homophobia , sexism ... have taken their toll. There are too many selfish and not enough selfless. We have an inherent earth connection that we ignore for we continually rape the land , taint the water and pollute the air. Where have all the angels gone?
Where have all the angels gone? Where are those who celebrate life and spirit while fostering greater harmony? The heart of the world is broken and we are the abusers. We must create purpose in our lives and seek to enrich , enlighten and educate. We must live in a more conscious way and let our souls speak. Where have all the angels gone?
I like it. It's like a cry for change- a call to action.
The title is definitly what drew me in, and I like how you repeated it throughout the poem. However, it threw me off when you repeated it at the end of the first stanza and at the beginning of the second. It made me take a really big breath before I read it. XD
You have a very powerful way of reaching out to people through words. It makes me want to get up and do something now... I might just do that.
I hope someday the world can hear these same words.
This piece is very true about today's society. People seem to focus too much on the material items life now offers, instead of the small treasures that are free and right in front of us. Great write!
This prose shoots straight at the essence of life. Even those who are good are nurished in a community of evil. We can't escape it in this lifetime. The line "raped the land" is very powerful in this piece; it produces a strong image of what humanity has done to destroy life. Great piece, I look forward to reading more.
A meloncony observation of the demise of humanity.
Sad because it's so true. Sad because the angels that you refer to do exist, I believe, but are overwhelmed by the task at hand.
Very beautiful, reflective and eloquent.
I love this, it saddens my heart the way you address the situations at hand-however you also give me hope as you describe the way things should be and rather than saying "there are no angels left" you are crying out for the good you know is still lingering. It pulled me in, it enlightened me, and left me somewhat different...better for hearing it. And after all, isn't that what poetry is all about?
''The heart of the world is broken and we are the abusers'' I so agree with you. It seems that we who are called human become less human every day. I do believe that there are angels that walk this earth with us. We just sometimes feel that they have all deserted. LOL More than likely they are letting us wallow in our own mess for awhile, and when we continue to disobey the time will come when this world will be no more. Very good. I hope you have a wonderful day. Blessings, Lesa
Beautiful !!!!!!! I believe there are still angels among us, hopefully one day there will be no question to where they have gone Love is the only house big enough for all the pain in the world !
