Where Have All The Angels Gone

Where Have All The Angels Gone

A Poem by Micheal Teal

Where have all the angels gone? I have grown weary of the battle. As i get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to understand or accept mans inhumanity. Mine is a journey to the divine but my path is blocked by those who wallow in an ocean of negativity. I seek to breathe in inspiration as i send out blessings of peace and love. Yet the weight of hatred , racism , homophobia , sexism ... have taken their toll. There are too many selfish and not enough selfless. We have an inherent earth connection that we ignore for we continually rape the land , taint the water and pollute the air. Where have all the angels gone?

Where have all the angels gone? Where are those who celebrate life and spirit while fostering greater harmony? The heart of the world is broken and we are the abusers. We must create purpose in our lives and seek to enrich , enlighten and educate. We must live in a more conscious way and let our souls speak. Where have all the angels gone?

Can anybody hear me!

I like it. It's like a cry for change- a call to action.
The title is definitly what drew me in, and I like how you repeated it throughout the poem. However, it threw me off when you repeated it at the end of the first stanza and at the beginning of the second. It made me take a really big breath before I read it. XD

You have a very powerful way of reaching out to people through words. It makes me want to get up and do something now... I might just do that.
I hope someday the world can hear these same words.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that sort of thing. So many people seem to have their head in the sand. Negativity is a big dream crusher. it bothers me greatly. So here is an answer to your question. Yes, I can hear you. And guess what Michael, YOU are one of the angels.....

The definition of humane is "characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, esp. for the suffering or distressed".
A synonym for humane is human.
We are humans, and yet most of us are inhumane in some way.

I might have gotten the wrong message from your poem, but what I thought it meant was that human beings are destructive. And if that is what the message was, then I agree.

Fabulous! I was thinking about this same subject today. I wish everyone felt as passionately about it as you do, perhaps then the world could be changed for the better. Excellent job!

i have felt this way, more and more every day....i'm positive the angels hear you...for they may have enlightened you...
sometimes the negativity gets to me too...
feeling as if i am only one; sometimes as good as none but then somehow i am reminded of angels and divine intervention
i can't give up
thank you for expressing this and reminding me that there are others just like you that live in silence with all their goodness

Firstly thanks for the friend invite. You're writing is really inspiring, so i hope you don't mind if i answer:
The mortals whisper to themselves, laugh with eyes that grow round with joy and love. Emotions crash like waves through them, pleasure and pain and they rage against one another. Each breath is torture, each touch seeming frantic to the steady hearts that beat above them. What is this thing that mortals possess? This fire and lust, this showering need to rise above the rest. Their lips dance with triumph, their breasts rising towards the heavens in emotions far removed from their heavenly counterparts. Oh, who could resist? These pale servants who give of themselves for eternity, what blame can be placed upon them if, befuddled by logic and self-serving excuses, they allow themselves Just. One. Taste.
Alas it's clear. The angels have all fallen down.

So, well, I believe they're still here. Just harder to see. The most beautiful lies beneath the tarnished, the most pure within murky water.

I love this! I've been wondering the same thing for so many years now.

It appears as if everyone else that has reviewed this "Poem" received a different message than I did, which is alright; but I read it as a cry from desolation & abandonment. If this is a "comment" in "poetic" form, to reach for what is ALREADY here amongst us, then I feel a little bit better about what this "message" is about, than when I first read it.

I Love it. To me it shows that you actually look at the world around you instead of passing through life. These words hold a strong and powerful meaning that i hope oneday, everyone will think about. It is thoughts like this that will change humans for the better if everyone would embrace the change.
