Raging Sea of Possibility

A Poem by Veronica Chandler

As I gaze intently at the raging sea

I feel its strength and beauty engulfing me

Carrying me in with its tide

To help me see things that my eyes my hide

I’m learning and growing as the immense wave swells

Gathering more knowledge with each tale it tells

I’m surging forth now with its great power

Immersed in more joy with each passing hour

I feel like the whitecaps as they dance and they dive

It’s towards the shore that we both strive

Amidst all the shades of the green and the blue

I realize things I know I must do

The pounding surf comes crashing down

I’m seeing possibilities all around

Reaching our goal now with no sense of time

Ignoring potential is mans only crime.

Couplet meter is not easy to carry off without sounding trite or sing-song. You have managed it in this piece. The thoughts themselves may not be especially deep (it has been noted that you were 16!) , but that there is a burgeoning talent lurking in those "big-girl shoes" cannot be denied.
Two minor edits: Line 4: ."..my eyes MAY hide", perhaps?; Last Line: "Man's".
