Heartless

Heartless

A Poem by Veronica Chandler
"

Excuse the little play on words in my title; this poem is a tribute to my boyfriend of 6 years, who passed away 2 years ago last Friday. I miss you Rocco; please send back my heart soon.

Heartless

A poem by Veronica Chandler

I love you so my love struck one

And how I will miss our time in the sun

You left your body

My heart still in your hand

And left me with my words un-spoke

 To wander in quick sand

With my bear and empty chest

I try to live each day

And just in case someone should see

the pain deep in my soul

I fill my time with busy-ness

I try to hide the hole

I keep smiles in my pockets and also on my lips

My words to all are filled with light

As more and more time slips

So unexpected, and I so ill prepared

Of the dreams we shared together, not one of them was spared

Your eyes reflected the beauty I never knew was me

Without you here reflecting light its just so hard see

A lost and lonly wanderer who is tangled up in blue

Up or down, left or right, I haven't got a clue

I miss your love so very much

It completely changed my soul

But I really need my heart back now

To once again be whole

I must confess, this poem was inspired by my boyfriend, but also by a song I heard. The artists name is Joe Bonamassa and the song, I miss you, I hate you. Conflict much Veronica? The song goes onto say, "Cause I feel you, I don't want to but I need you." More fodder for the poetry fire. Thanks for reading.
