Mirror Reflecting

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

An old wack hippie

An airy fairy freak

A still pond reflecting…

An old woman sagging to new heights

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

Do you see my compassion watered by grace…?

Can you smell my generosity?

Am I as deep as the Marianas Trench?

Loyal as the day is long

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

Am I the b***h who screwed you?

Glued and tattooed your life

The one who used and abused you…
Do I haunt you at night?

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

Do you see my fervent pleas?

Picket signs, fist raised in solidarity

Do you see a water protector?

An old crone passing sage advice

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

Do you see the one carving furrows of worry on your brow?

Do you see the mother of your pain?

Father of everything wrong with the world

Patron of the devil himself

I am but a mirror reflecting back to you

Tell me…

What do you see when you look at me?

Am I the one who gave the shirt off their back?

Did I give you refuge from the storm?

Soothe your weary soul with a calming salve

Did I pull you from the pit of despair?

You are but a mirror reflecting back to me

I’ll tell you…

This is what I see when I look at you

I see infinite potential reaching for light

Seed of the great sequoia bathing in fire so it might soon sprout

I see you as the great kelp forest cradling an otter pup

I see you see me as the love that I most certainly am

I see Agape pouring itself out upon the world

I see you see me

Lately I have experienced people telling me nice things about myself, which is uncomfortable for me. I have been deflecting by responding that "I am but a mirror reflecting back to you." Lessons from this experience is how this piece came forth.
Thank You

I see that I am a crone as well. I just turned 61 and am feeling like I am reading the universe loud and clear. I am happier than I have ever been. Outside of this in relation to the world and country I am so sad. We are heading for bad changes. Bullies rule now. Members of congress that supported a bill are being bullied by their own members of congress. It's bad and it is change not good change. Reflection is fabulous but it only tells the story of now. My mirror shows a person amazed to have made it this far but horrified about what we/I am leaving behind.

I am forced to turn the Read Requests back off; I am receiving far more per day than I can manage. I brought the numbers down to the low 700's but over the last couple of weeks they have begun to cre.. more..
