Predator

Predator

A Poem by Veronica Chandler
"

I am on a roll and must continue to purge this out onto page

"

Predator

Slick like a snake in grass

You slip into people’s lives

A predator in the night

Disguised by haunting eyes

Your supple loins draw them in

Up along those lengthy thighs

Fertile mounds just ahead

As swollen lips spew lies

Ferret out all your prey

As one by one you entrance

All the souls you would consume

Mere targets for your lance

A glutton for destruction

Growing fat on innocent souls

They offer up their hearts to you

Still beating you fill them with holes

Sacrificed for their innocent blood

As you suckle their life force

You gorge till little life remains

Empty, they’re your only source

I sit and shake my head

So much destruction in your wake

Mangled lives are everywhere

You care not what you take

There is a price and you will pay

Through eternity evermore

When retribution comes for you

 You dirty stinking sore

There’ll be no rest for your wicked heart

You don’t deserve a pass

Go hide in the shadows

And stay in the grass

Keep your head up on a swivel

Because your nature’s been exposed

Good will come and hunt you down

For the pain you’ve imposed

You are no friend to love

Love will be no friend to you

Live out all your days alone

As life does stage a coup
