La LunaA Poem by Veronica ChandlerThis piece is in honor of tonight's Strawberry Moon on Friday the 13th in June 2014. Thanks to peacefulmind.com for use of their image.La
Luna, La Luna Strawberry
moon looming large in my heart Gently
glide your light across my night sky giddy Drawn
by your pull on my soul I
long for the shores of my island home
While
you rest on my horizon for a moment You
bathe me in ancestral light Algonquin
dreams of strawberry fields ripening Soothe
my weary heart with whispers of hope to come
La
Luna la Luna Sing
me songs of yesterdays gone by Stir
me with the visions of your views of man’s folly Countless
times you’ve hung overhead watching Rhythms
of life march on as you parade overhead
Lull
me to peace with those soft color glimmers Ever
present, with a mysterious pull on the tides Life
dances to your tunes unaware Light
the darkened path of man’s traverse with wisdom
La
Luna La Luna Kiss
me now while your light still shines on my cheek Too
many years will pass before you come again on the 13th I
ache to feel your cool breeze in my desert home I
long for your light to linger on my breast
Mystery
fades as you come into view illuminating this globe Your
touch invades even the coldest hearts Soothes
even the guarded temples of the most high Touching
all life equally
La
Luna La Luna Return
to us swiftly for we need your illuminating grace Jeweled
beauty dangles like a necklace on the universe You’re
a shiny bauble to tempt us out of pettiness The
unifying light that shines on us all equally
Bring
understanding and compassion to each living soul Illustrate
for us man’s inhumanity to man and nature Change
our perceptions that we may see the world as one That
we may all dance to the beauty of loves perfection
La
Luna La Luna Spill
your sweetness out upon the world So
next time mankind will greet you with agape God’s
speed on your return to us You
know better than any our need for you here
