![]() Windows LieA Poem by Veronica Chandler![]() This piece practically forced me to write it![]() Windows Lie
When we look into
windows it just rarely tells the truth Only bright and shiny
baubles that tempt and they feign While the beauty speaks
to us about what’s found inside With happy lovely
people all dressed up in haute couture
They smile through
their plastic faces all made up to a T While driving ritzy
cars that could buy a house or three Feasting on the best of
things where ever they may go They dance till the sun
comes up at all the chic affairs
Their lives do seem so
perfect when seen at a glance Houses dressed to
perfection beyond a hearts delight Filled with all the
best of things one could ever want Picture perfect lives look
like covers on a magazine Inside their massive
complexes safe and tucked away With sickened hearts
worn thin by life and self disdain They don’t know what is
missing and try to fill the hole But all the yogis in
the world just can’t quite fill them up
We look into the
windows which seem to show their lives But they’re only mere
reflections, shadows and some lies A Distortion of painted
images of the lives that don’t exist Just twisted mirror
images that aren't reflecting any truth
When you look into the
window remember You know not what lives
