Thoughts
“Stop!”
they yelled, “And drop the pen, Step
away from that page”… “We
will shoot to kill; We
warn you now move carefully away.”
“Only
WE may yield a tool so great, And
you are not like us.” “You’re
a batterer of words it seems, A
kind, that paints with truth.”
“Ideas
must not be spread like that, For
we fear they will awaken.” “You
know not what you say; Keep
that mind of yours in check.”
“Only
soothing words that cast our spells, We
pen to keep them in their slumber.” “The
truth may come to light and then, Who’ll
be left to buy burnt umber?”
“You
may take away my pen,” I said “And
strip me of the page, but Ideas
will spread like wild fire, They
go out from every mind.”
"You
may kill this my body." "You
may stop a single mind." "But
the truth is in the Poetry, And
they are alive inside us all." Bang, the sound resounded! The pen fell to the ground. The poems grew exponentially, Infecting everyone. © 2013 Veronica ChandlerFeatured Review
