This is a piece I wrote for the Creative Poetry Group using the words... Scathing, Elocution, Rasp, Erode, Contorted, and Affable.

Words

 

My elocution of this heart that bleeds,

Make all crystal clear for you.

Words are strong.

 

Contorted face displaying emotions,

Punctuate the points I make.

Words can heal.

 

With thought I rasp and smooth out rough edges.

No more sharp protrusions here.

Words can help.

 

Faced with all the concepts I share here now,

The scathing truth illumined.

Words can hurt.

 

Word craft erodes the ignorance displayed.

They soften your hardcore stare.

Words cost us.

 

Now affable by deeds reflecting light.

You apologize to all.

Words repair.

 

Let us choose them all with great care and thought,

What we say comes back to us.

Words create.

This piece is amazing. It talks about all the way words can effect our lives or change them. This is an eye opening piece that makes us think about the words we speak or write down. Words can do many different things. Some of them are positive and some are negative. Great job with using these words.

When I pick the word for the group; the words seem to speak to me. I try to mix it up and use some known words and some that we don't usually use. I have found this is a great way to broaden topics we write about as well and spelling and vocabulary. You did extremely well with these words. I still have to write my piece yet but an idea for a poem sprung to life on its own and I had to get it written. I hope you continue to enjoy this group and sometimes I add challenges that are different from just using words. I haven't done a challenge for awhile but may sometime soon.

I enjoy the challenges of this group tremendously. In my understanding, all the magic happens when we are completely outside of our own personal comfort zones. The challenges of this group always have me well outside my own comfort zone. Because of this wonderful group I wrote one of my favorite pieces. Thank you for the work you do to challenge us all.

Brilliant piece- Eloquently written- and very true. Words are more than letters sprawled across a page or a sound that leaves our lips. Words are emotions, descriptions, communication- they hold on to meaning and memories. But sometimes we take advantage of them. Or we can use them to grow, to learn from and to express how we feel- who we are and what we need. Excellent work. They can be both a strength and weakness. Thank you...this one took some work, for I am just now learning how to put my work in a "formal" format while still allowing the stream to flow. Most of the difficulty for me here came with using the words as assigned by the Creative Poetry Group.
