Straight TalkA Poem by Veronica ChandlerThis piece helped me work out my personal struggle to write "right". Struggle is the opposite of the solutions that I seek. Trying is the opposite; allowing is how I best write "right"Straight
Talk
Straight
talk with a crooked quill As
light escapes my page Specks
of dust float aimlessly Through
sun beams on my stage
Specks
of dust are my thoughts Sunbeams
are my hopes A
stage is this heart I have The
crooked quill my pain
Try
to grasp a floating speck, From
the sunbeams in the room You’ll
chase away the hours While
all the specks elude
A
crooked quill while sorely bent Adds
color to the sky Hold
still long enough, And
specks do find their place
Try
too hard and I’ll erase The
beauty found in me. Make
a painting of your heart And
leave it on the page © 2013 Veronica ChandlerAuthor's Note
