Riding High

450 miles

On a new Road King

Through the Rockies

My spirit does sing

Thunder rumblin

Thighs on fire

On heavy metal

To a mountain spire

Canyons carved

Wind flinging lace

River's roar

Sprays in my face

Bugs in the teeth

Tasting good

Not like Chicken

But how fun should

Long dark braids

Beat a leathered back

Exhilaration ignites

Hot asphalt black

Rubber burns

The road races by

Beneath my feet

Nothin but sky

Flippin peace signs

Noddin heads

United thirst

For shackles shed

We are stars above

Earth below

Living to ride

Not for show

Mom would have loved this. Me and dad took that same trip on the year marking her death. It was one of her favorite places to ride and we scattered some of her ashes on the way.

Thanks Jenny, it was almost as fun to write as it was to ride. This photo is from the "Cat House Poker Run" in Nevada. A blast and a half! Beverly's ashes went along for the ride.
