Night

Night

A Poem by Cody Conley

Time dilates as her head

Rests upon my shoulder,

The opium dream of

Twilight intoxicates

Us, languid, hazy words

Hang in the air like smoke.

The moon waxes and wanes

With every inhale

And exhale. Vast cosmos

Unfold as I drag my

Fingers across her back,

Aeons pass in heart beats,

Her warm skin and soft touch

Anchor my racing mind

In sanity against

The quiet chaos of

The night, a dimension

Subject to the whims of

The fairy Titania.

Ragged and sultry breath

On my face sobers me,

And I see the faint light

Of the sun breaking the

Horizon at dawn.
