If They Knew

If They Knew

A Poem by Makayla

If they knew me
what would they say,
would they see i'm broken
or still think i'm okay?

would they try to help
or turn the other cheek?
because quitting takes strength
and i'm one of the weak.

i swear i'm trying
but what can i do?
walk a mile in my shoes
and see what i go through.

society is cruel
life is a cheat
so on my knees
i accept defeat

i want to escape
i want to run away
to a place where reality
doesn't lock me away.

This is a powerful poem. The concise nature and well structured rhyming helps make it sharp. You have conveyed your emotions in a reasoned and honest way, and I have deep respect for you for that.
