Born This WayA Poem by OfDeathandLoveTaking one glance home, You drove off north, Saying you were “born this way.”
Now you’re on the streets Shoving up needles And smoking ‘jouana.
‘stead of in a house Hammering down nails And squirting weeds.
I’m hoping one day you’ll Look back once again Here towards home, ‘cause you were born this way.
Now you’re hiding from the police Hoping they won’t catch you
‘stead of showing your lil’ brother How to catch frogs.
I’m hoping one day you’ll Look back once again Here towards home, ‘cause you were born this way.
And now you’re catching your breath Hearing machines beep in your ear, Wondering if you’ll live to see another day
‘stead of being out of breath, Hearing the “I do” whispered in your ear Knowing you have forever in front of you.
I’m hoping one day you’ll Look back once again Here towards home, ‘cause you were born this way. © 2013 OfDeathandLoveReviews
