A Poem by ODMK {Oliver D.M King]
"

About the accident me and my family were in about a year ago. The niece i lost.

"

07/20/96 - 03/31/07

Three months from December,

The niece I lost, I’ll always remember

Thinking about the way she smiled,

If she grew old, the boys she would drive wild.

The last time I saw her face

To the car we did race

The instant that brought her into our life

Takes her our and cuts like a knife

Cars crash, I suffer from only whip lash

But the images burn pain that will constantly sustain

Pictures of you are kept close to me

In dreams.

Winter was about to end,

She’s nothing but a memory

To her grave my love I always send

This goodbye is just temporary

As days go by

A years past since I said goodbyes

The thoughts of you send tears from my eyes

Uncle cries as time does fly,

I wish I heard you yesterday

As secret whispers dissipate

Days alone I’ve grown to hate.

Wow, this is an incredible piece. As awful as the circumstances are, you were able to bring beautiful words to describe the pain. Excellent job.

a tear falls on my keyboard
it is similar i felt as the pain
i become mesmerized with her image

i wish her to be face to face

My god, I don't think anyone can read this poem without tears racing to their eyes. I often wonder how people can cope with what life gives us in the long run. How do we live when we lose someone so close? How do we breathe, how do we wake up in the morning? It's almost like we have died instead of them and we are the ones who suffer the most.

But here's something I think will make you feel better, because like you, I have lost someone very close.

"There are a million ways to die,
but in the end, you have to find a way to live."

It's a quote that has kept me going for years. I don't how I recovered form the things I did. But I managed to get through though them and keep moving. And I'm glad that you had the courage to post a piece like this. You and your niece are definitely in my prayers.
