From Where?

From Where?

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

As sentients, we have so many questions. Many with infinite answers. Many meant to be a life’s search for answers. (Image by KristeenMarie Photographs)

"

From Where?

From where
do the currents form
that first breath
first cry
suckling
coo?

From where
begins tenuous longings
begat by sudden voltage
cranial hostage without voice
not knowing
not yet equipped
only growing synaptic wanderings?

From where
comes liberation
sentient pleads exploding
expression finally knowing its needs?

We wonder
we challenge

From where
does creative experience derive its understanding
that place wisdom becomes the new voice
where the stranger’s "Hi"
opens expansive trust void of clinging
makes attachment moot
relies not on expectation
simply allows the now

of what it will be

knowing purpose

begins as a dream with its own

timetable?

From where

Comes the patience to dream?

Might it be from one’s birth-fist

gripping the mother’s finger?
