Critical Spirit

Critical Spirit

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

There comes a time in life when the closing of the eyes and the relaxing of the body into sleep reveals magical elements of one’s protected journey. Some call that the moment of critical spirit.

"

Critical Spirit

How divergent the mysteries of faith

Aware that one goes to sleep

Trusting the dawn will come

That nocturnal friendship

Engages many known

And unknown

Personages.

To abandon one’s critical spirit

Is to leave behind

The purity of a dewy relief

Irrigating yet greater arteries of sustenance

Languid at times

Rushing other moments

But always finding

Where it’s ultimately needed.

How grateful this ocean of relief

Embracing living’s essence

The sharing of days that often are dark

And evening slumbers that are often lit with tears of joy.
