A Father's Legacy
by Odin Roark Like a snow-covered road Winding upward through Lesson-markers of Redwood and pine His time on this side Remains an odyssey Lovingly preserved Rock and rut obstacles Remain for tomorrows yet dawned Destiny's beneath-the-surface hindrance Reminds one will stumble again and again Until watchfulness is learned Such roads become trailheads Traversing inevitable Paths narrow Climbing saps energy Air becomes thin Still Above the clouds beckon Such quiet guidance He left behind Frozen footprints of wisdom For me to discover In my own season © 2013 Odin Roark |
