The Deserted Library

The Deserted Library

A Poem by John Christiansson

The Deserted Library.

In these places

There are cases

Dust covered books

And spider’s webs;

A million words

Lie buried

In the library

Of the dead;

In ten autumns

Not one leaf

Has tumbled

Or been tore,

No sign

Of flickered thumb beats

Or footsteps

On the floor;

The names and dreams

Just stand there

In rigor mortis spines

No eyes to write

Their epitaph

As book worms -

Devour each line.

An interesting piece.I wonder about this poem ,it is very nice and made me think.Is it actually a forgotten library or is it life you speak of so nicely?
