What will be in our books?

What will our history book look like?

"
Why is it that as we are growing up we are spoon fed all of these hypnotic ideals in regards to society? They simultaneously tell us to fly while clipping our wings. They tell us to be unique but push for uniformity. We are told to speak up and have a voice but our vocal chords are removed. They tell us to stay informed yet we only see a twisted reality. We are told to walk our own path but are "tripped" when it is the "wrong one" and pushed when it is agreeable. We must stay educated but education costs a lifetime we can't afford to waste. We must speak against injustice but equality is but a far off dream and we are many times punished for speaking out. We are told to know how to defend ourselves but often the victim is the one punished. They tell children to help stop bullying but the child is suspended when standing up against them? We are told to be dreamers but our dreams must match society. They tell us we must help our community but we need help too. They say to be open minded and welcoming but then they reject citizens. We must be equal but every race points fingers. Man and woman are to have "equal" footing but both fight for superiority not equality. We must be willing to help other countries’ people but we abandon our own. I have never seen such a backwards, and hypocritical nation. Why don’t they show all of the homeless in our own nation? They show us images of another country and the poor, homeless, and needy but what about our own countrymen and women? Where are those images? Our arms are wide open to other nations but not our own flesh and blood? Why don’t we find a solution for our own growing lower class first? Many starve. We are not some Utopian society that we may be brainwashed into thinking. We have a growing lower class and it is costly to escape those areas. Why do we point fingers? Why can we not get along? The notion that people are naturally racist or racist from birth is nonsense. As small children we only care about getting along and playing. We are not born knowing to hate Hispanics, blacks, whites, Native Americans, etc. Racism is a learned trait. No matter what you want to believe we were all born into one race. In the end all of our skeletons are made with the same structure. After we die our skin disappears and there is no trace of color. We all form the human race. Yes it was wrong for another to think that selling another into slavery was acceptable. Slavery was and is a very dark part of the human timeline. To blame a generation that wasn't born yet and had nothing to do with that trade is absurd. Not all were part of it anyways. For instance what about those ancestors that weren’t even in the U.S. and had no slaves. A few of mine were in Germany and Hungary worrying about escaping. Not until 4 generations ago did my bloodline enter US soil on my mom’s side. On my dad’s side they were treated like they were vermin. They were Native Americans. They were pushed from their homes, raped, murdered, and infected with "white" diseases but not treated. All lives matter whether they be black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, old, young, tall, short, skinny, or overweight. It shouldn’t be that we must constantly be pulled into society’s ideals of how we should be. We should speak out. Why? Who else will? Our children? If they do not see us make a stand how will they know how? We must teach them to stand up for themselves. Who cares if they get in trouble with societal ideals? So what. They did what was right. If the victim is constantly told they cannot make a change because they will get in trouble, then they will grow up knowing of no other option. It should be that all dreamers are rewarded with an opportunity to help them achieve their goals. Education should not cost a personality and a lifetime to learn. We will only be on this planet for a minuscule amount of time, why are we wasting it with petty arguments? The generations before us made mistakes so we don't do the same, and we will make new ones the next will learn from. Use yesterday to create today, and today to create tomorrow. The past will always be the past. So why look back? We cannot change the past but the future we can mold. Today is the history of tomorrow; so what will be written in our books?

You've written very poignant words. Your message is something I've tried to pass on my entire life.
Most of what you mention is a result of generations wanting more, expecting better, and lost dreams...
A Utopian society is what we all strive for, but rarely achieve, and to say life gets in the way is just an excuse. While history begins a minute ago, sometimes you can still learn from it, "Use yesterday to create tomorrow" I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Don't stop believing... YOU will decide what will be written in our books... Welcome to W.C. !
