If I Was A Lover

If I Was A Lover

A Poem by Gaige

Lead me into the desert

Tempted by sullen promises

Pure waters marred by lies

Sol was so much brighter

While our lives weren't composed of time

Come and waste this life with me

A city of flowers around us

Blooming in smiles and sadness

Beauty could be a good thing again

I wonder if I could lend my hands

Where have my friends gone

Citizens of some forlorn place

A place they call happines

Some distant, foreign land

Across the desert

Where water can be kept in cupped hands

It pretty good, but the second isn't very cohesive with the first and last stanzas, which was a very good opening to betrayal and "what if we could've escape together" sense and the beautifully described metaphors of happiness achieved with envy by friends in the last stanza. Is being together such a waste of life? Why smiles and then the offering of sadness? beauty could be a good thing again- is well thought of however, just my take when I was reading is all. Pretty well written all around, I give praise to the complexity and innovation in concepts! here's to love, vulnerability, and everything in between. =)
