Dare

Dare

A Poem by Gaige

Rising from a listless sleep

Wondering why the world has passed me by

Sitting in a broken bed

Is there something more inside

Come down tomorrow

On this eve my sun will rise

Taking me from the steps of my father

Answer me for every single why

Redemption in this chance

I think I'm worth enough

To give this life another try

Footsteps have faltered

I've lost myself a thousand times

Just because I've woken up

Doesn't mean I can't dream

God do I want to be here

Today I'll feel

Tomorrow I'll love

Yesterday...I've already forgotten

I'll dare myself to breathe

To go ever onward

Author's Note

Gaige
Today my father said not to bother coming home to California, that I don't have a home there. Home isn't 4 walls and a roof, it's a place where your heart finds solace. I'll find that place for myself.

It seems you could find comfort in being as aware as you are. And I think a home is much more vast than 4 walls myself. Keep up the good work.
