Coordinate Brain to HeartA Poem by Gaige
A knock on my door
I want to let you in But I can't be quite sure You'll leave the mud on the mat I ask to take your coat But you stand there naked A cold, wet contradiction Something akin to a virtuous s**t Drought fills the room Parched from the warm and cold Would you like some tea? Maybe some oxygen to breathe? Help me in the kitchen I need you to make me a memory You seem like you've figured everything out I want you to come to my room The silly secrets we could share If only you'd stay for supper But you have to go You'll miss the last stop for this train I eat dinner alone Waiting for a phone call For you to say you got safely home Subliminal angst in the lasting silence Laying my head down to dream of you Today was the day my heart dropped out I wonder if it will come around again Re-enroll in this school of faults I've learned my lesson so well No one to blame but reflections and myself I won't forget to lock my door Letting you in has been a little slice of hell I don't think I'll let anyone in anymore
