Pride As We Live

Pride As We Live

A Poem by Gaige

I was born in the way
Quiet words are born
In moments lacking clarity
Filled with subliminal sound
Nothing new to talk about
Our parents took their time
Then they up and left
With everything but the world
For us kids to figure out
And it was going so well
Until we sold our souls
For a small chance
To live and grow old
So we could see the pale light
Captured in one more day
Shed your wings
You're trying to fly
With naive, little feet
Planted firmly on the ground
Who could have imagined
You'd get so damned far
That you could change the stars
To your heart's content
Only so you could forget

very well done, I like this alot. 'Until we sold our souls for a chance to grow old," very true. Something I often think about.
