I'm Betting I'm Not A Safe Bet

I'm Betting I'm Not A Safe Bet

A Poem by Gaige

Passion igniting the space around us
Just to keep hot air balloons ideas afloat
Pouring brackish atmosphere into our glass
Drained in a single sip
Strange the profound sorrow found
Being the only guest in an ethereal hotel

Someone managed to save me
A hold on my heart like a child's fist
Time swallows in the days that have went
Waking up to my alarm clock
My sun rising in the forgotten sky without a sound

Lost on the hopes of tainted wings
A fast food romance for the young and brooding
Slip beautifully into a west coast coma
Nursed with sand and ocean wounds

Can't a memory forget all of this
Those special words no one seems to know
Blood in my feet, my feet on the ground
Weightless I fly through whatever seems to matter

I can do without with these rain clouds I have found
But what am I to do
When what defines everything I am
Makes me crave a wooden, enclosed bed
I carve this question six feet down
If I'm alive should I try to breathe
When oxygen makes me drown?
