Obfuscated Mirror

Obfuscated Mirror

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

As your lips drip incomprehensible rhythmic patterns
I am reminded of the cellophane existence that separates us
I am reminded of the cedar inspired lacquer that liquors us up
Liquor me up so that the bright lights blind my incoherence

Criss-crossing, tongue-tied exposure that wraps me up
Wraps me up so tight that your aura suffocates my need to reason

Sneezing out sugar-coated lenses that eroticize my existence
An existence that intoxicates me so much that my vocabulary is slurred

Splish-splashing around and I have lost control

Lost the need to control
To hold on to an overbearing fear of comfort

Comfort that keeps me blockaded

Enclosed in a finger twitching

Hair curling
Release

And then
You paint
Paint around our existence
Painting around our vanilla existence that splatters our need for sobriety

Subtly smearing away this fear
Subtly writing this poem that sticks in me
Like needles oozing with ink
Needles that permeate my being
Needles that emulate my extravagance

Stripped to the bone
Losing control
Stitching up my fear on manilla
Manilla that bleeds my infatuation
Infatuation that controls this prolonged contemplation

And my lips drip harmless incisions
Continuously dripping feverishly
And rambling
My coherence drips and fills this plastered up bowl

That oozes out

And intoxicates me once again
Spoon feeding me a tangible existence

Eroticizing my thoughts
So that I am crawling in and out

In and out
In
And

Out
And now Iʼm drunk off of my own words

So the slurring makes sense
I am enclosed in magenta
And the paint is dripping
And I am dripping
Into you

Wow. Amazing use of words and thoughts. John Donne would appreciate these words. They drip of passion and need we cannot fulfill. You made the reader feel the need and the want in your words. You are very talented. Your words are like sweet song. Thank you Nadia for sharing the outstanding poetry.
