Benign Reflection

Benign Reflection

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

Feeling your frozen steam
My body is drenched in your pity

I am anything but clean

The energy I maintain is chilled

Stored for later use
My passion is slowly being killed

Circles represent ice
Coming out in passionate embraces

That do nothing but entice

These mesmerizing words that cause desire

The fleeting dreams
That cause me to perspire

I am feeling the burnt vibes
I am touching the frosted lips

Coated in lies

I am slowly emerging out of my disdainful skin

To bite the melted ice
That is scornfully tainted with sin

Licking my buttery finger
Taking away my drive
Clean blood lingers down my head and into my eyes

Motivation is gone

To no one’s surprise

Closing the clogged void

The porous obscenities

Yell for freedom

My mood shifting
Such fucked up redemption

As stone hits the ice
And kills my reflection
