Gilded Cage

Gilded Cage

A Poem by Nyida Strong

Angel in a gilded cage
of precious marble.
I sit perched at
the end of my days.

My world has become
one of pain and sorrow
where once there was
beauty at every turn.

I have hurt too many,
burned numerous bridges.
My guilt has condemned
me to a dead life.

There are no windows
there are no bars
on this gilded cage
of my broken soul.

Merely an angel
who has fallen
from grace.

perfect imagery for the sentiment so well expressed here. I particulary enjoyed the two final verses. beautifully tragic wordcrafting! Minor editing note, in the last verse "and" should be "an". :o) wishing you laughter
