You Want A Reason?

You Want A Reason?

A Poem by Nyida Strong

Give me the reason
for breathing
for carrying on.

Tell me why
or how
or when?

Give me a reason
to keep going
to push on.

Hamlet mentioned
a mortal coil.
I hate shuffling.

Force my way
through everyday
keeping hell at bay.

What reason will you give
telling me that I should live,
and not just survive?

I don't care!
Give me a damned
reason to continue!

It is raining,
grey clouds
gentle drops.

It's sunny,
warm rays
on my skin.

The moon's shining
cool mellow glow
caressing the world.

Trees are going
to burst forth with
green soon.

Flowers will
soon blossom
in all finery.

Reasons upon reasons
to keep walking
moving forward.

Don't look back on
mistakes made,
roads not taken.

Look at strengths,
surviving dreams
and night monsters.

Give me a reason?
Just make me remember
the ones I've said.

Make me never
forget the world
all around me.

Show me that beauty
does exist,
finds love.

Finding love
peace
life.

There's the reason...

So HAMLET was where I got the mortal coil thing... I couldn't remember where it came from, but it had been stuck in my head until I wrote that poem. lol... nice.

I liked this.
I've been here, as you know. So I hear ya. I hate this feeling, but I love how you captured its desperation.
