The Rain

The Rain

A Poem by Nyida Strong

Focus on something peaceful. Listen to the rain, the rhythem  of it, the subtle music of each drop hitting the window's pane. Everydrop creating ripples in the puddles outside. It's a quite song, gentle as a lullyby, smooth as the finest silk. Calm and hushed. The rain falls like a million grains of confetti, a celebration of nature itself. A gentle, all embracing joy of the world itself.

Amazing, is it not? So peaceful, yet has the potential for much violent. Water. It can erode a mountain in a million years and chip away at iron, yet it is so calming, all in the same breath. Let the liquid rhythm carry you away. Breathe it in, feel it though every ounce of your being. By mearly feeling it, listening to it, you may be connected -- if only for a solitary beautiful moment -- to the inexplicable world that surrounds us all.

Disregarding the few spelling errors I like this poem. Rain, I love it, many people love it. The beauty about things like rain in poetry is that you can write about it and it never gets old. Your poem seems not only a reflection and appreciation of rain but also a a meditation. In reading your poem I was transported to those cool rainy days when the air has that fresh invigorating scent of rain, it's intoxicating and makes one feel earthy, grounded connected to the earth as a living thing in its own right.
