Burns

Burns

A Poem by nyi

Absorbed by everything about you

Now I'm picking up pieces of my life again

Cherishing you like my sole treasured dream

Results in committing myself to a kind of enslavement

Holding onto things that are not there

For I breathe and live under your mercy

Trying to resurrect the love that has been lost

Believing that you are the one for me

Though you treat me like something cheap and disposable

I still cling onto you like some kind of parasite

Perhaps I'm just a deformed creature worthy only of your despise

And I'm drowning inside fantasy of my own creation

You keep crushing my soul with your high heels

Confirming my love is nothing more than just a fleeting illusion

To my soul, my heart, my life and my own dream

All that you have left are these burns, burns and burns

"Trying to resurrect the love that has been lost
Believing that you are the one for me"
Sometime hard to realize you are wasting energy and love on someone. I like the directness of the strong statements and the very good ending to the poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.
