Chasing ButterfliesA Poem by AmberA poem about believing in our dreams. So often we can lose faith as we grow. Listening to all those negative voices, telling us what is right and what is wrong, until we forget to stand up tall.
Long pass the time
When our dreams die There is a place Where hope still lives Each and every page Filled to the brim With insightful thoughts Where are dreams run free Our imaginations Breeding pride With each new idea Kept alive The one space Our dreams reside When the world says It is time to grow up And cast childhood aside This is the one place We can still escape All the preconceived notions Of what is right A space where there is light And we don’t Have to hide in shame Just because we have visions Of grander Dancing in our minds A magical land Beyond the bland Where we can Still chase butterflies Just like we did in youth And here there is no need To be stealthy Because armed with a good book Traipsing through the pages Where there are no cages Lounging by babbling brooks Or wandering dark alleys at night We are all wealthy Where anything can happen Each story told Dripped in gold No matter how unreal When trailing the lines Of brilliant minds Sketched throughout time Our imaginations Igniting each word Etched on the paper Creating new worlds Where boundaries cease to exist And our dreams will forever persist Because you are never too old To chase butterflies No matter what they say © 2015 Amber |
