Djinn

Djinn

A Poem by Riordan McNew
"

or genies or don't wish... ever

"
This research always gets me scared
Layer upon layer, should I have dared?
Mine eyes now conceive which I've always believed
The brazen vessel has long been unsealed
Every wish to one star be unconcealed
If that's what inspires you, the journey goes no further
Lazy river going nowhere until the soul's set afire
With that passion once more, restless for some answers
Please sir, where is the door?
They should make this more portable,
Greedy grubbers with only one care,
Power untested, earthlings neglected,
If they could read they would have seen.
Death awaits at every throne
We call them masters now,
Who deserves it more?
Had we known our leaders, much older than kings and empires,
They were always here, vacation until we rebuild the mess.
Head for a new sphere, lay the babies in a nest,
It's insane but the game gets grander each time.
So fun in fact, I'm glad the Djinn are alive.
