I'm not sure if there's much of a message, I just thought it was funny.
You're just one workday away from boredom You're just one traffic jam away from a tantrum You're just one family gathering away from criticism You're just one Donner party away from cannibalism
You're just one school bully away from emotional baggage You're just one extreme sport away from dain bramage You're just one mp3 away from a prison term You're just one McDonald's meal away from a tapeworm
You're just one flat tire away from profanity You're just one bad day away from insanity You're just one manager away from being kicked around You're just one illness away from a hole in the ground
You're just a small dot in deep space You're just one person, easily replaced It's depressing to think about but it's true The universe does not revolve around you
This is life, simply stated. It amazes me how many people think the world revolves around them. The last section is very humbling. More people need to read this and get over themselves.
Right away I thought it would be kind of 'simple' and boring but the last stanza was really good and really touched me. It's true that everybody thinks that everything revolves around them.
At first read, I thought this to be another ho-hum simplistic poem, but actually elements of it and the similar endings give it something worth a second look, I love the dain bramage line.
