Dearest Friend (Hate Hate Love Love)

Dearest Friend (Hate Hate Love Love)

A Poem by J. R.
"

The darkest thing I've written so far, another improvised piece. A warped take on a love-hate relationship.

"
Dearest friend of mine
Oh dearest friend of mine

Remember that one time
You fell asleep in my embrace
The moon was big and full
And I saw your smiling face

Now I'm going to snap if you say "I love you" again
Now why don't you drop that stupid little grin?
You're always saying that I never understand
Why don't you say that to the back of my hand?

I'm sorry that I've been this way
I regret that I have gone astray
Deep down inside, I'm sensitive and good
Really, I only want to be understood

You were once my only friend
It hurt both of us in the end
You're always saying that love rings true
Then you turn around and make me lie to you

Dearest Friend of mine
Oh Dearest friend of mine

Nice. You captured the idea that love and hate are like the two sides of a coin, one cannot exist without the other. You will never "hate" someone you never loved, never knew. Your poem truly expresses the dichotomy.
