Pond SkatingA Poem by nseddyPond Skating
I sit on the frozen bench Tighten the laces Pushing off, the steel blades dig in I glide over the ice Moving faster
The air is clean and frigid The sun is high but offers no comfort A brave Crow caws in the distance I glide over the ice Moving faster
The breeze cuts as it passes Nose and ears are numb Skin on my face is tight and prickly I glide over the ice Moving faster
I stop suddenly Snow sprays ahead of me Almost silent Faint cracks in the ice below Tree Branches crackle above
Take in a deep breath Bitter air burns my lungs Pushing off, the steel blades dig in I glide over the ice Moving faster
Muscles warming Perspiration building Mind is clearing I glide over the ice Moving faster
I sprint the perimeter Pushing my limits Gasping for a breath I glide over the ice Moving slower © 2014 nseddyReviews
