Ride Softly by Nancy Pofahl

He was my morning sunshine

And the snow that settled on my skin

But now he’s just a memory

Of a place my heart had once been

Ride softly on the wind my love

Find your place and spread your wings

Take each day a time my love

For tomorrow is yesterday’s dreams

You saw a shining castle

And you tried to step inside

But the castle suddenly vanished

Washed away in the evening tide

You lived in your world of sorrow

Pushed deep within your mind

You tried to cross a mountain

But a hill was all you could climb

So then his your are numbered

Made hard by lack of sleep

But when you crossed your mountain

You’ll found a valley so deep

Don’t try to understand it

Just lay down in soft sweet grass

And look up at your mountain

The one you climbed at last.

Ride softly on the wind my love

Find your place and spread your wings

Take each day a time my love

For tomorrow is yesterday’s dreams

This is beautiful and heart felt. The rhythm and rhyme flowed well and the imagery was very good. I liked the part about you tried to climb a mountain but a hill was all you could climb. Touching. Take you for sharing.
