Just as Christ Loved the Church

Just as Christ Loved the Church

A Poem by Anonymous

When I write
thoughts melt on the paper
Into smiley faces
of me
when I think of you.
My heart isn't racing,
my knees do not shake -
in your presence
I'm strong in my weakness
when your confidence
lifts me off the ground.
I see clearer when my eyes are shut
because your voice is more audible
than my irrational thoughts.
Occasionally, you let time teach me
As I silently learn to watch
you believing in what I'm becoming.
You envision the future
as the present worked hard for.
And as I watch you build
the fabric of existence,
I'm left speechless.
And when I read,
thoughts rise in the air
into smiley faces
of you
when you think of me.
