Need

Need

A Poem by Textbook Enigmatic
"

Love hurts.

"

to say that I need you is unjust,
a blasphemy if I have ever known one
and still
with every steady beat of my heart
need come a gentle whisper of your name.

I find my lungs working quickly,
as if they need to somehow
take in more
than the lifeless air.
as if perhaps one day I will breathe you in
and have your life
running through my veins.

my cells will need not let
loose their strangled cries,
they will no longer continue
their desperate plea
for you,
for the slow and delicate torture
of our complacent soul.

they will have no need to reach out,
grasping blindly as habit
for we have found
excruciating pleasures
buried deep
in the lettered folds
of your beating heart.

The start just give this verse...and then you just have at it within the lines...the words translated down the page...each stanza comes more into the grips of the entire read...
