Lucidity

Lucidity

A Poem by No Surprises

Allow me a moment, if you will.
My thoughts awash among the prismatic colors.
To focus on one would be a tragedy,
but to be wholly consumed, pure ecstacy.
Leaves flutter and fall upon blades of grass,
and my fingertips graze the dew laden blanket
upon which I lie.
The warmth of the sun coalesces with my skin,
calming and serene.
To dream of such perfection is a dream in itself.
An aspiration only attainable by the worthy and resplendant.
Yet here I am.
An unfitting spec in the wondrous splendor I've created.
Could I be alive at last?

Awakening, I feel the chill of reality set in.
No light, no warmth, only lucidity.
I frantically search for my vivid world, in which I was complete.
Yet the shadow remains and surrounds me.
My eyes ache to behold that nirvana once more.
Just one more ardent ray of light upon my face.
It was but a dream.

The mounting intensity of this poem grasped my attention from the first line, and held it throughout. Wondrous job, if I say so myself!
