Ode to a ShadowA Poem by HiddenA spot of black sits on the cold concrete No sun nor light can possibly get in. You act as a thin blanket or a sheet Where devils and vial creatures can sin. The darkness, the cold, those fears deep under, Hidden in the depths you seem to portray. What’s lurking within you? A mystery? Something left for me to search and wonder? Why must you hide yourself inside the grey? Is it a secret or just trickery? You take the form of your hiding spaces. You will never show who you truly are. Always appearing with different faces, Always hiding your emotions and scars. You are incapable of seeing light, For your facade will utterly dissolve Or tear apart what you have created. And so you are different without the bright Sun that watches over as you evolve Into which you, yourself, have dictated. A spot of black sits on the cold concrete. Slowly you must disappear in the light. For now we see your true colors defeat The object in which you hide out of sight. Like a lock and key you protect yourself From the damage found when people can know What lurks within your soul and in your past. But what happens when they all find it out; Those secrets you never wanted to show. Do you hide again with a better cast? Or do you tell all what it is about? © 2013 Hidden |
