I'm lucky to have a girl like you.

I'm lucky to have a girl like you.

A Poem by Lee W. Deason

Suddenly I feel stiff from the conversation, with the phone between us.
Because I realized that I made bad call, and now your paying the bill.
And it's price you should never have to pay. For being with a smart man who's made mistakes.
Who knows how to show you how smart, sweet, and beautiful you are.
I never wanted it to be this way, but please understand the difference between.
Now and then.

Then I smell pain through the phone.
As I'm waiting on faith to show me, that I'm worth it... the trouble.
As you said out loud, "This changes things."
I said back quietly as I saw I might lose my purpose... "I'm sorry to scare you....
Now and then."

I heard you tell me why this is so out of date.
It's so late and I left it on the floor, in the way.
Yeah I should have thought twice, for you. I got scared.
But baby you've gotta understand (I love you.)
Out of all the world I find myself in you.
And I would die and turn blue, if tried make me without you.

I just couldn't see what that mess had to do with you and me.

Let me elaborate on why. I'm worth it.
Because such ugliness doesn't deserve to touch a soul like you.
Because I'm bulletproof, tempered, and devoted to you.
As I have always been with focus, faith, and a smile.
That you pinned on my chest with your name over my heart. Your biggest fan.
Because I'm the first place winner, knight in armor... Your temple's guard.
That you were amazed by at the lake. By genuineness.
Not the unappreciative suitor.
That ugly mistakes scare you to believe.

Now it's time for the lights to fade.
The dawns approaching and you need your rest.
So I kept crying, because you said.
"I'm lucky to have a girl like you."

Your Hero is palpable.
Wide eyed on his bed and he is counting his stars that you made shine.
Finding ways to make 'em shine back 10 times brighter.
Because I knows I'm blessed. He is lucky to have a girl like you.
