Proof of the greater good in all of us. (Sacrifice.)

Proof of the greater good in all of us. (Sacrifice.)

A Poem by Lee W. Deason

There is another void published front page.

Let's just put up a sign and remember it.

Like a historical marker, of when the weather went bad.

Simply too sad for sun to shine through.

With capital burning a hole in my pants.

That don't even fit the same in the first place.

Let me go, home again. Or I'll won't remember it.

Instead there'll be a reckoning. A funeral.

Because I lost my head in it.

Now I'm losing.

Again I say, "There's got to be a better way!!!"

We'll put it in the front page, and read all about it.

Like the rapture was fake, and we had our pants down.

Again I say, "There's got to be a better way..."

Do you know what I mean?

To roll the car off the end of the line.

And hope for the best.

Cause tonight will be a night to remember.

When my hand is felt a second or two....

After my last breath.

And no one heard me when I said.

"I'm better off dead."

I remember watching the flash back.

"Like I was young again."

Took a deep breath and realized.

There was two holes in my chest.

And that no one was listening to me like always.

When I said "I'm not stupid."

And I hope for the best.

As I make history in the front page.

Cause I'm too sad to see you.

The outline looked human, when I whispered.

"I'm better off dead." As I died smiling.

Like I was young again.

Whoa. Powerful. The way it builds up to the last stanza makes all the foreshadowing apparent, and I can really appreciate the fact that you put so much thought into that. This is a great piece of writing, well done :)
